A 1960’s bungalow, in need of rejuvenation, sits overlooking Salt Lake in Clifden.
New owners, with a young and growing family, wished to enhance the potential of the property to open up to the views over the lake and the town and to create a greater connection with the beautiful natural environment and natural light. They wished to create a stimulating environment for their entire family to grow and become part of.
The existing house was remodelled internally and a new extension was added to provide the social heart of the family’s life.
A simple form was added with three recessed apertures, facing east, south and west to capture shaded sunlight and external views. The external colours echo the colours of the natural habitat.
